SNUS: REASONS AND CONSEQUENCES FOR HEALTH OF PUPIL’S AND STUDENT’S HEALTH

Nowadays in many progressive countries of the world is noted in the article, the fashion for classic smoking is going away. At the same time, alternative ways of using nicotine became a trend. One of these is snus – this a chewing tobacco that is dangerous to human health and life.
The purpose of the research: determine of the reasons that contribute of development of the bad habit of snus use among pupils’ and students’ youth in Ukraine; analysis of possible risks to human health due to the use of snus; finding out the level of awareness of students’ youth regarding the negative impact of snus on the human body; revealing the real state of snus use by students’ youth.
With the help of the analysis of scientific literature, it was found that the most vulnerable part of society are the pupils and students youth, unfortunately. In this category, snus use is very common, where it is considered not only safe, but also fashionable. Snus safety is a very dangerous misconception. For an organism growing up to 25 years of age, the consequences of snus use are very dangerous: stunting, increased aggressiveness and arousal, deterioration of cognitive processes, impaired memory and concentration of attention, high risk of oncological illness (cancer of the oral cavity, pancreas, esophagus, liver and lungs), weakening resistance to infectious illness. All first-time snus users become active cigarette smokers within the next four years. Snus doesn’t help to quit smoking because this tobacco contains the same drug as cigarettes – nicotine. To always be in shape, you should exclude stimulation of the body with nicotine or other active substances, but you need to lead a healthy lifestyle. The receiving results of the anonymous survey indicate that the studied students are sufficiently informed about the negative impact of snus on the human body. The most senior students have a negative attitude towards its use, and also support the ban on the use of snus by the Law of Ukraine. However, it is disturbing that snus use is most common among of the first-year students. In this regard, it is necessary to strengthen of information work among the first-year students to debunk false information about the safety of snus use. There is a need to increase preventive measures not only with applicants for higher education, but also with pupils in the middle and senior classes of comprehensive secondary schools.
