PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF MEDICAL SPECIALISTS IN THE ASPECT OF PHYSICAL REHABILITATION

Abstract

The article highlights aspects of professional training of medical specialists with a focus on physical rehabilitation. In particular, special attention is paid to the rehabilitation of military personnel, post-COVID rehabilitation and rehabilitation of palliative patients. Main accents are made on the professional training of medical personnel in the conditions of the transformation of the healthcare system, because the formation of an early and comprehensive system of rehabilitation measures, the introduction of a multidisciplinary approach and teamwork of specialists from different directions will contribute to the restoration of full-fledged life activities in accordance with the wishes and needs of a person in the conditions of the social and cultural environment. It has been proven that high-quality training of medical specialists focused on the aspect of physical rehabilitation will improve the lives of patients/clients and facilitate adaptation to everyday life. It has been established that among the analyzed methodological approaches, competence-based and systemic approaches are decisive in the professional training of students of higher medical education institutions. The necessity of applying a competency-based approach in the training of future specialists, the formation of their professional competence, and key competencies in the implementation of rehabilitation measures has been characterized.

Professional competence of the doctor in the aspect of physical rehabilitation (doctor, master of physical therapy and master of nursing) is considered as a highly motivated individual who is able to think clinically, has skills, knowledge and training in the professional medical field, is able to act effectively in emergency and non-standard situations, make decisions independently, and constantly strives for continuous professional development. The main special competence of a well-prepared and motivated medical student is the ability to identify problems in the physical, cognitive, psycho-emotional, and spiritual spheres, limitations of the patient's occupational participation in accordance with the International Classification of Functioning, limitations of vital activities and health.
