Abstract

The article examines the modern system of school education in Israel, which is divided into cycles (primary, middle, senior) and is aimed at preparing young people for a responsible life in a democratic society, where people of different ethnic origins, religions, cultures, political views, morals live together. The peculiarities of the organization of the educational process in such types of Israeli school foundations as state, with a religious bias, state-religious, and private are determined. The article proves that school education in Israel is based on Jewish values, on love for one’s land, equality, social harmony, humanism, universalism, on the principles of freedom and tolerance. The study of the experience of training young people of Jewish values in Israel made it possible to determine ways to improve education in general secondary education institutions of Ukraine during the period of hostilities in the state (expansion of democracy as a value and the opportunity for students to choose academic disciplines and form an individual trajectory of personal development of schoolchildren; orientation of the educational process of schools on a person-oriented approach to students, a reduction in the number of hours in Ukrainian schools in various cycles of education from primary and basic education to specialized secondary education, a more thorough determination of the specialization of students of high schools not only based on the obtained grades from individual academic disciplines, but also on the results of special psychological tests that determine their inclinations; supplementing the formal education of children in Ukrainian schools with informal education, paying significant attention to the development of stress resistance and prevention of depressive states in young people, public speaking and communicative culture using interactive technologies and innovative forms of education (trainings, individual consultations, psychological assistance); development of students’ patriotism by involving them in public youth organizations, improving pre-military training at school. It is proven that the act of making a decision by a student in a specific situation is closely related to the civic and personal values of subjects of educational activity.
