COMPETENT APPROACH OF A TEACHER TO PSYCHOSOMATIC ILLS AND THEIR PREVENTION IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERN CHALLENGES AND THREATS

Abstract

The actuality of this problem is due to the deterioration of the state of psychosomatic health of teachers, an increase in risk factors for occupational professional pathology, a decrease in the body’s functional reserves, modern epidemiological and military challenges and threats. Today, the conditions of the development of school’s education require from teachers to have more effective integrated knowledge. That’s why teachers must be not only well-educated but also competent. The main competence approaches in the professional activity of a teacher should include taking care of individual health and the health of pupils. The purpose of the article is to identify risk factors for occupational pathology in the process of teachers’ pedagogical activity in the context of modern challenges and threats, to study the main psychofunctional indicators of teachers’ body, to determine measures for psychoprophylaxis of future teachers’ occupational diseases. The article clarifies the essence of the concept of «professional health of a teacher» in the psychological-pedagogical literature. The main factors that negatively affect the professional psychosomatic health of teachers are revealed. It has been established that in the current conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the impact of such psychological negative factors on teachers’ health as chronic stress, neuropsychological stress, fears, anxiety, depression is increasing. The «risk group» of teachers who are most susceptible to the «emotional burnout» syndrome is characterized in it. The main occupational diseases of teachers are identified, which include: laryngitis, neuroses, psychosomatic disorders, diseases of the organ of vision, cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, vegetative-vascular dystonia, coronary heart disease, varicose veins of the lower extremities), obesity, osteochondrosis. The results of the study of psychosomatic health of future teachers and their attitude to individual health are presented. The presence of risk factors for pathology of the cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal systems, low level of physical development and physical fitness in a significant part of teachers are highlighted. Measures of psychoprevention of teacher's occupational pathology are proposed. The study
and prevention of risk factors that affect the health of teachers in the professional environment will be
of great importance not only for teachers, but also contribute to the preservation and promotion of
students' health.
